The right seat mount (US passenger side) requires removing the factory rear heater and blower assembly. That unit takes up nearly all the space the storage compartment would otherwise use, and once it's removed, it's removed. This isn't a small detail to skim past. If you still rely on that rear heat, use the standard universal mount instead, no removal required. So far we haven't seen a right-hand drive 80 Series with the factory rear heater, so RHD owners shouldn't have this unit to remove. If yours has one, contact us before ordering.

Left-hand or right-hand drive? Sides are named by where the seat sits, viewed from inside the truck. In a US (left-hand drive) truck the driver sits on the left. In Japanese and Australian right-hand drive trucks the driver sits on the right, so the left seat mount is your passenger seat.

Early 80 Series Owners (FJ80) This listing covers the early FJ80 now that we've verified fitment. Power seats were never offered on the FJ80, so you don't need the floor harness extension.

The bigger difference is the seat belt buckle. On the FJ80, both front buckles bolt to the floor between the seats on extended stalks, the same as the 60 and 62 Series. On the FZJ80, each buckle is attached to its seat and moves with it. Our mount is built around the FZJ80 setup, so the buckle slides forward and back with the seat.

Our recommended setup: convert to FZJ80 seat belt buckles. Used ones are easy to find on eBay. With the buckle riding on the seat, it stays in the same place relative to you wherever you set the seat. That's more secure and more comfortable than reaching for a fixed floor buckle.

Want to keep your factory floor buckle? You can, but don't just leave out our seatbelt bracket and its spacer. Without them, the seat sits 3/16" lower and the cushion presses against the side plate. Contact us when you order and we'll send two spacers to take the bracket's place. Both are required for correct fit.

Description

Most aftermarket mounts for these seats are a flat plate with four legs welded on, no bracing between them. That holds up fine on pavement, but off road, the whole thing can shift and wobble under you. We built this mount as one rigid, boxed structure instead, so the load is carried by the whole assembly, not four independent weld joints.

Every seat mount leaves an empty cavity under the seat once the factory seat is out of the way, most just leave it empty. Ours encloses that cavity into real, usable storage, taking advantage of the scheel-mann Vario F's lift up center cushion.

With the FZJ80 buckle, the seatbelt bracket lets the buckle move with the seat on its sliders, the way it does from the factory, instead of staying fixed in one spot. A dedicated spacer plate keeps the mount level on the side that doesn't carry the bracket. Every fastener is welded in as a captive point, so you're threading a bolt, not holding a nut behind a panel you can't reach.

A laser cut, black anodized side plate finishes the look, hiding the rails and sliders and giving the install a clean, professional finish to match what you've already spent on the seat.

We power the scheel-mann heating elements and fans off the factory rear heater/blower relay rather than the OEM seat heater switch, since that route needs extra parts most trucks don't have. Control is through scheel-mann's own round switches. One harness handles both seats, you only need it once even if you're starting with a single side.
