FAQs: 200 Series & LX570
This FAQ covers the 2008-2021 Toyota 200 Series Land Cruiser and Lexus LX570.

What changes
Q: What do I give up when I switch to scheel-mann Vario F KLIMA seats?
A: The factory seat airbag, the seat motors and the factory seat heating and cooling. They're replaced by the scheel-mann seat's own features: KLIMA heat and cooling, manual adjustment, and an airbag proxy in place of the seat airbag.

Q: Does KLIMA cooling feel like the factory cooled seats?
A: Not exactly. The factory system is tied into the A/C ducts, so it blows chilled air. KLIMA pulls cabin air through a membrane between you and the cushion. It works well, and the bigger difference most people notice is the support of the Vario F on long drives.
Q: How involved is the install?
A: The mechanical side is straightforward: a seat mounting bracket, the slider rails, a seat belt mount and the seat itself. See the 200 Series / LX570 seat bracket kit. The wiring is where the work is, covered below.

Airbags and sensors
Q: Will I get an airbag light?
A: The airbag proxy takes care of the seat airbag, but more wiring is needed to complete the circuit. Send us a few photos of the connectors under your seats and we'll tell you exactly what your truck needs.
Q: What about the passenger pressure pad?
A: The passenger seat has a pressure pad that tells the airbag system someone is sitting there. It has to come out of your factory seat and go into the scheel-mann seat. You can move it yourself, or ship it to us in Oregon and we'll install it before your seat ships.
Heat and cooling controls
Q: Can I use my factory heat and cool buttons?
A: It depends on the year. The 2016 interior update moved much of the dash to a CAN bus network, which may rule out connecting directly to the factory switches. If your truck uses a simple high/low/off switch, it may work. If not, the scheel-mann switches mount separately. We're still working out a cleaner switch mounting option for the 200 Series.
Matching your interior
Q: Is there a leather that matches the brown (Terra) interior?
A: Yes. A German leather called Maron is very close. Ask us for a comparison photo.
