What's available
Q: Can I do both seats?
A: Yes. Driver and passenger mounts are available on their own or as complete seat and mount packages, in heated or KLIMA heated and cooled. See FJ Cruiser products.
Q: KLIMA mount or heat-only mount?
A: Most people choose the KLIMA mount. It has an integrated storage box and also works with heated-only seats. The heat-only passenger mount is a special-order item, built in 3 to 4 weeks, for trucks with hardware or electronics under the seat that can't be moved to clear the storage box.
Q: Which seat color is most popular?
A: Black cloth or black leather, by a wide margin.
Seat height and layout
Q: Where does the seat sit?
A: Just under the middle of the factory seat's height range, close to the stock driving position. The heat-only passenger mount adds a second, taller position for more legroom.
Q: What are the cube switch openings for?
A: Toyota 22.2 mm accessory switches. They aren't meant for the seat heat or cooling controls, which need to sit closer to you. The driver kit includes a switch blank and a USB pass-through plug.
Q: Can I mount a fire extinguisher?
A: The passenger kits include an outboard accessory side panel for one. The extinguisher mount itself isn't included.
Heat and cooling
Q: The FJ never had heated seats. How is the heat wired?
A: Every kit includes a plug-and-play heater extension harness for the wiring and switches that come with the scheel-mann seat. KLIMA cooling runs on its own scheel-mann switches.
Airbags
Q: Do scheel-mann seats have side airbags?
A: No. scheel-mann seats don't have side impact airbags. Our kits include a vehicle-specific airbag proxy so the rest of the FJ's airbag system keeps working without a warning light.
Q: Will I get an airbag light with your kit?
A: No, when it's installed per the instructions. The driver kit keeps Toyota's factory sensors and seat belt location. The passenger kit keeps the passenger-side sensing where it applies and the factory belt location.
Q: I already installed a different aftermarket seat and my airbag light is on. Will your airbag proxy fix it?
A: Not by itself. On the driver side, three things complete the airbag circuit: the seat airbag, the driver position sensor (a U-shaped sensor on the factory rail) and the seat belt buckle switch. The proxy only replaces the airbag. You also need to plug the seat belt buckle and the position sensor back into the floor harness. Extras
Q: Is there a place for a phone or radio mount?
A: Yes. An inner transmission tunnel RAM mount bracket is available as an option.
