Wiring & Connectors
Q: Does the seat heater harness kit work with all years of the LX470 / 100 Series?
A: Not all years use the same floor harness connector. 2002 is a split year, meaning two different connector configurations were used during production. For any 2002, we need a photo of the floor harness connector to determine which version you have.
Q: Does the LX470 vs. the Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series matter for fitment?
A: Yes. The LX470 came with powered seat position from the factory, which the Land Cruiser 100 Series did not. This difference affects the under-seat wiring configuration, so it is important to specify which vehicle you have when ordering.
Q: What connectors are under the seats on a 2006 LX470?
A: On each side you will find a cream-color 10-pin connector, a gray 5-pin connector, and a 2-pin yellow connector. The 10-pin carries power to the seat motors and the seat heaters. The 5-pin connects to the seat belt buckle and the driver proximity sensor. The yellow connector is for the airbag.
Q: Is the 10-pin connector available through Toyota or the aftermarket?
A: No. The 10-pin connector is not available through the aftermarket, the Japanese OEM manufacturer, or from Toyota directly. Only a few of its pins are actually needed for the new seat heaters. We handle this by using the seat-side portion of the connector sent in by the customer.
Q: For my 2006 Land Cruiser, what exactly do you need from my existing harness?
A: We only need the 10-pin connector from the seat side, plus as much of those two small wires as you can get to. The yellow connector and the 5-pin gray connector are not cut for any reason. The entire gray harness from the floor through the proximity sensor and seat belt buckle is reused whole.

Q: Do I reuse my existing seat belt buckles?
A: Yes. The seat belt buckles and their harnesses are connected to the seat, and they carry over to the new seat.
Q: Can the new seats use my 2006's existing seat heater switches on the center console?
A: Yes, that is the goal. Once we receive and process the 10-pin connector from your existing seat, we build the integration harness that allows your factory heater switches to control the heating function in the new scheel-mann seats.
Airbag & Safety Sensors
Q: Is there a seat position sensor that affects airbag function?
A: Some years have a hall effect sensor on the driver seat rail. It connects via two wires to a black plug and runs from the floor to the sensor along the rail. Its function is to shut off the driver airbag when the seat is pushed all the way forward. If your truck has this sensor, we need photos of it to confirm we have the correct mounting plate. The passenger side does not have this sensor because the passenger occupant detection is handled separately by the pressure pad under the seat cushion.
Q: What does the driver proximity sensor do, and does it carry over?
A: The driver proximity sensor shuts off the airbag if the driver seat gets too close to the steering wheel. The entire gray harness on the driver side from the floor to the seat gets reused as-is, including this sensor and the seat belt buckle. Nothing needs to be cut or modified on that harness. The passenger side does not have this sensor.

Q: What is the passenger seat pressure sensor and why does it matter?
A: The pressure sensor is a printed circuit board encased in plastic, glued to the seat foam just under the leather. It tells the vehicle's airbag system when someone is in the passenger seat. There is no aftermarket replacement for this sensor in Toyota's system, so it must be removed from your factory seat and installed into the new scheel-mann seat.

Q: How is the passenger pressure sensor removed?
A: The sensor pad, its harness, and its connector all need to come out together. In practice, customers have been able to remove it without destroying the seat. We work with you on the process and can coordinate installation into the new seat before it ships.

Seat Function & Adjustment
Q: Are the scheel-mann seats motorized like the factory LX470 seats?
A: No. All position adjustments on the scheel-mann seats are fully manual. The motors in your 100 Series are internal and integral to the factory seat, and they do not carry over. The new seats adjust manually for fore/aft position and seatback angle, and lumbar support.
Klima Seat Ventilation
Q: What is the Klima option and how is it controlled?
A: Klima is scheel-mann's seat ventilation (cooling) system. It is controlled through round switches included with the seat harness. One switch handles heating; one handles the Klima fan. Both run off a dedicated harness that requires a chassis ground and an ignition-switched 12V source so the fans cannot be left on and drain the battery.
Q: Where can the Klima switch be mounted?
A: There are a few options. One approach is drilling a hole in the center console near the existing seat heater switches, though there is a module directly behind that panel that limits depth. The area on the front left of the center console where the A/C Heat (ACH) switches used to be is another good candidate if that mount is available in your truck. Instagram user @ben3dbuild specializes in 100 Series interior 3D scanning and fabrication and may have a blank panel for that area that can be drilled. Q: Can the motor power wires from the factory seat be reused to power the Klima fan?
A: No. Those wires are not ignition-switched, meaning they are always live and could drain the battery if the fans or heaters are left on. They could be converted to ignition-hot by adding a relay with a switch, but that is work done on the owner's end. The simpler approach is tapping into an existing ignition-switched circuit such as the 12V plug inside the center console. The Klima harness terminates in two bare wires: a red for ignition-hot and a black for ground.

Upholstery & Color Options
Q: Does scheel-mann offer a color that matches the tan/ivory interior of the LX470?
A: The closest available option is the creme-beige, which is a built-to-order color sourced directly from Germany and is not stocked in the US. Lead time from Germany is typically 12-14 weeks. Swatches of stocking colors are available on request. The grey cloth stocking option ships in approximately 3-5 business days from US inventory.
Q: Will the creme-beige match my aged factory leather perfectly?
A: Not perfectly. Factory leather on a 20-year-old vehicle dulls and darkens over time, so any new leather will appear brighter by comparison. scheel-mann also notes that lighter leather colors show wear faster and are more susceptible to dye transfer from dark clothing such as denim. They will build to your specification, but want customers to understand what to expect.
Q: Is the upholstery material available to purchase separately for other interior work?
A: Yes. The fabrics and leatherettes used in the scheel-mann seats are available by the yard. The grey cloth ships from Portland. Creme and other built-to-order materials ship from Germany or the Netherlands.

Q: Can I use a custom leather color that is not in the core stocking range?
A: Yes. There is an expanded color selection available with an automotive-specific coating applied. Colors outside the core range do not carry the same durability guarantee as the stocking colors, though customers have used them without reported issues. We make this known upfront so you can make an informed choice.
