This pigtail upgrade kit is an evolution of our original seat heater computer connector repair kit, developed directly from customer feedback to make replacement faster, cleaner, and more reliable.
When a seat heater computer fails, it is common for the connector and terminal pins to be heat damaged as well. In many cases, the original terminals appear to be undersized for the application, which can lead to overheating and connector failure. While no known upgraded connector exists for this circuit, replacing the damaged connector remains necessary to restore proper seat heater function.
This pigtail version uses the same OEM-style connector housing and terminal pins as our original kit, but with the terminals crimped and installed onto short lengths of automotive-grade GTX wire. This eliminates the most difficult and error-prone portion of the repair while still allowing the installer to complete final splicing using standard tools.
We intentionally do not terminate the wire ends. Pre-terminating would still require specialized crimp tools that most customers do not own, so final termination is left to the installer to suit their preferred splice method and wire management approach.
This kit significantly reduces installation time and minimizes the risk of improper terminal crimping while maintaining full installer control over the final wiring connection.
What This Kit Improves
- Eliminates the need to crimp new terminals onto damaged or heat-affected wiring
- Reduces the risk of poor terminal crimps caused by incorrect or low-quality tools
- Speeds up installation compared to replacing individual terminals
- Uses automotive-grade GTX wire suitable for interior seat applications
- Maintains correct connector orientation and pin retention from the factory configuration
Included Components
- (1) Seat heater computer connector housing
- (4) Pre-crimped female terminal pins installed into the connector
- Short pigtail leads using automotive-grade GTX wire
Important Installation Notes
- Final wire splicing is required. This kit does not include butt connectors, solder sleeves, or heat shrink.
- The installer must connect each pigtail wire to the corresponding vehicle-side wire.
- Prior to cutting any wires, take clear photos of the original connector and wire positions to preserve correct pinout.
- All four circuits should be replaced at the same time, even if only one terminal shows visible damage.
- Use proper automotive wiring practices when completing final splices, including strain relief and insulation support.
Important Installation Notice
This repair requires cutting and permanently modifying the vehicle wiring harness. Improper wiring, incorrect pin placement, or poor splicing practices can result in seat heater malfunction or additional electrical damage.
This kit is intended for installers who are comfortable performing automotive electrical repairs. If you are unsure about wire identification, splicing methods, or connector orientation, professional installation is strongly recommended.
Tolerance Stack cannot verify the condition of your existing wiring or seat heater computer. Always inspect for heat damage beyond the connector before completing the repair.
Relationship to the Original Repair Kit
This pigtail upgrade kit is intended as a convenience-focused alternative to our original connector and loose terminal repair kit.
- Choose the original kit if you already own proper open-barrel crimp tools and prefer to crimp terminals yourself.
- Choose this pigtail kit if you want the easiest and lowest-risk installation while retaining control over final splicing.
