Medical Disclaimer IMPORTANT NOTICE: This information is for educational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult with a qualified healthcare provider before making decisions about your health, especially if you have existing back conditions or chronic pain. Do not use this information as a substitute for professional medical care. If you experience severe or persistent back pain, seek immediate medical attention. Long road trips should be about adventure, not agony. Yet anyone who's spent hours behind the wheel knows that familiar ache creeping up your spine, the stiffness settling into your hips, and that nagging pain that makes every mile feel like ten. For those already dealing with back problems, driving can transform from a necessary activity into genuine torture. Imagine this long drive with a sore back, especially from a medical condition, and miserable it would be. The truth is, our bodies weren't designed for hours of sitting in one position, particularly in factory car seats that treat the human spine like a straight line rather than the elegant curve it actually is. Standard car seats, especially as they age and wear, often fail to provide the support our backs desperately need. This isn't just about comfort, it's about preventing real medical problems and managing existing ones. When Your Back Fights Back: Common Conditions That Make Driving Miserable The Lower Back Rebellion Most driving-related pain centers on the lower back, and for good reason. When you sit, especially in a poorly designed seat, your lumbar spine loses its natural curve and your discs bear enormous pressure—up to 40% more than when you're standing. Herniated discs are among the worst offenders. When that soft, gel-like center of a spinal disc pushes through its tough outer shell, it can press on nearby nerves, sending shooting pain down your legs. The constant pressure of sitting, combined with the vibration from the road, can turn a manageable condition into excruciating torture. Degenerative disc disease affects millions of people as they age. Those once-springy discs between your vertebrae dry out and lose their cushioning ability. Prolonged sitting accelerates this process, creating a vicious cycle where driving becomes increasingly painful. Sciatica deserves special mention because it's so common among drivers. This condition occurs when your sciatic nerve—the longest nerve in your body—gets compressed or irritated. The result is pain that can shoot from your lower back all the way down to your toes. Poor seat design can directly pressure this nerve or force you into positions that compress it. Spinal stenosis involves a narrowing of the spinal canal, which can pinch the spinal cord and nerves. While sitting sometimes provides temporary relief by opening up the spine, unsupported sitting for hours leads to muscle fatigue and increased pain. The sacroiliac joints, where your spine meets your pelvis, can become sources of significant pain when subjected to uneven pressure from poorly designed seats. This pain often masquerades as general lower back pain but has its own distinct characteristics. When Nerves Get Cranky Piriformis syndrome is a lesser-known but increasingly recognized condition. Deep in your buttock, the piriformis muscle can become tight and irritate the sciatic nerve. Hours of sitting can trigger this muscle to spasm, creating uppain that radiates down your leg. Meralgia paresthetica affects the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve in your thigh, causing burning, numbness, or tingling on the outer thigh. It's often triggered by pressure from sitting positions or tight clothing, making it particularly relevant for long-distance drivers. The Tailbone Trouble Coccydynia, or tailbone pain, can make sitting unbearable. Whether caused by an old injury or repetitive strain, direct pressure from hard or poorly contoured seats can turn a simple drive into an ordeal. Beyond the Spine Several other conditions make driving particularly challenging. Fibromyalgia sufferers experience widespread pain that can be significantly worsened by uncomfortable seating. Those with arthritis in their hips, knees, or spine find that the static positions required for driving can increase joint stiffness and pain. People recovering from back or hip surgery need precise support to avoid compromising their healing. Even circulation issues become problematic during long drives. Reduced blood flow to the legs can cause swelling, discomfort, and exacerbate conditions like varicose veins. Nothing beats the added comfort of scheel-mann Vario F seats for that long drive The Orthopedic Solution: scheel-mann Vario Seats This is where scheel-mann's Vario F and Vario F XXL seats enter the picture. These aren't just fancy car seats—they're precision-engineered orthopedic devices designed specifically to address the biomechanical challenges of extended sitting. What Makes Them Different The 4-way adjustable lumbar support is perhaps the most critical feature. Unlike the simple lumbar bulge found in many seats, this system allows you to adjust both the height and intensity of lower back support. You can dial in the exact curve your spine needs, maintaining proper alignment and reducing disc pressure. The anatomically contoured cushioning uses high-density foam that's sculpted to follow your body's natural curves. This isn't just about comfort—it's about distributing pressure evenly across your sitting surface, preventing the pressure points that can compress nerves and reduce circulation. Adjustable thigh support addresses a commonly overlooked problem. Many people, especially those with longer legs, don't get adequate support for their entire thigh. The extendable seat pan provides full thigh support, reducing pressure on your hamstrings and improving blood flow to your lower legs. The side bolstering is engineered to provide stability without creating pressure points. The seat bottom features flatter bolsters for easy entry and exit, while the upper bolsters cradle your torso, reducing the small movements that can strain muscles over long periods. For taller drivers, the Vario F XXL offers a backrest that's three inches taller, providing crucial upper back and shoulder support that's often missing in standard seats. Seat cooler switches added to this 2022 Toyota Tacoma for their Klima seats The Therapeutic Benefits of Temperature Control All scheel-mann Vario seats include integrated heating in both the backrest and seat cushion. The Klima versions add active ventilation for cooling. These features provide genuine therapeutic benefits: • Heat therapy increases blood flow to muscles, helping to relax tight muscles and alleviate spasms. For those with arthritis, warmth can reduce joint stiffness and improve flexibility. The gentle heat can also help with circulation issues and provide overall comfort for conditions like fibromyalgia. • Active cooling prevents the heat buildup that can exacerbate certain conditions. The ventilation system circulates air through the seat, preventing sweating and moisture buildup that can lead to skin irritation or pressure sores in sensitive individuals. The ability to precisely control temperature is particularly valuable for those with nerve conditions, where being too hot or cold can worsen symptoms. Making It Work in Your Toyota The benefits of scheel-mann seats are clear, but getting them into your Toyota Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, or 4Runner requires specialized engineering. This is where the expertise of Tolerance Stack becomes crucial. Each vehicle has unique floor contours, bolt patterns, and clearance requirements. Simply bolting in an aftermarket seat isn't enough—you need precision-engineered mounting solutions that account for: • Vehicle-specific mounting points that connect the seat securely to your truck's floor while maintaining proper positioning relative to the steering wheel, pedals, and other controls. • Wiring integration to handle the seat's heating and cooling functions without triggering dashboard warning lights or interfering with your vehicle's safety systems. • Clearance considerations to ensure the seat operates through its full range of adjustment without hitting door panels, center consoles, or other interior components. The engineering challenges are significant, but the solutions developed specifically for Toyota platforms address these concerns comprehensively. The result is a seamless integration that transforms your driving experience while maintaining your vehicle's safety and functionality. The 5th Gen 4Runner mount integrated with the Toyota fore/aft motorized slide and mounted to the scheel-mann Vario F orthopedic seat The Reality of Relief For people dealing with back problems, scheel-mann Vario seats represent more than an upgrade—they're a pathway back to mobility and adventure. The difference between enduring a long drive and enjoying it often comes down to proper support. These seats don't just mask discomfort; they address the underlying biomechanical problems that create pain in the first place. The investment is significant, but for those who've watched their world shrink because driving became too painful, the ability to reclaim long-distance travel is invaluable. Whether you're heading to the trailhead for a weekend adventure or driving cross-country to visit family, proper seating support can make the difference between arriving in agony and arriving ready to enjoy your destination. The combination of orthopedic design, therapeutic features, and precise vehicle integration creates a solution that's both medically sound and practically achievable. It's not about luxury—it's about function, health, and the freedom to go where you want without paying for it with pain. Final Reminder: This information is educational only. Please consult healthcare professionals for personalized advice regarding back pain, orthopedic products, and treatment options. Your health and safety should always be the top priority. #BackPain #LowerBackPain #Sciatica #ChronicPain #PainRelief #BackHealth #SpinalHealth #HerniatedDisc #PainManagement #BackSupport #ErgonomicSeating #OrthopedicSupport #BackPainRelief #HealthySpine #BackCare #LongDriveComfort #RoadTripComfort #DrivingPain #TravelComfort #OverlandLife #Overlanding #RoadTrip #TravelHealth #DrivingErgonomics #CarComfort #DrivingWithPain #TravelTips #LongDistanceDriving #ComfortableDriving #ToyotaTacoma #Toyota4Runner #ToyotaFJCruiser #TacomaLife #4RunnerLife #FJCruiser #ToyotaTrucks #Toyota #TacomaMods #4RunnerMods #FJMods #ToyotaOverland #OverlandToyota #TacomaOverland #4RunnerOverland #CarMods #VehicleUpgrades #AutoMods #CarSeats #OrthopedicSeats #AutomotiveErgonomics #VehicleComfort #TruckMods #CarAccessories #AutomotiveHealth #VehicleModification #CustomSeats #CarInterior #AutomotiveWellness #ScheelMann #VarioF #ToleranceStack #OrthopedicCarSeats #KlimaSeats #HeatedSeats #CooledSeats #VentilatedSeats #LumbarSupport #AutomotiveSeating #PremiumSeats #ComfortSeats #ErgonomicCarSeats

One of the biggest reasons customers choose Tolerance Stack is to solve specific comfort and fitment challenges, and Jim C.'s experience with his FJ Cruiser is a fantastic example. He generously shares his journey from OEM seats to his new scheel-mann and Tolerance Stack setup, highlighting how it addressed his seating position, improved access, and delivered unparalleled heating and cooling with the Klima system. His review below is a good-read for any FJ Cruiser owner considering an upgrade! scheel-mann's Klima seats installed into an Fj Cruiser using Tolerance Stack's mounting system. "Hey Guys, My previous message to you was from my phone and so kinda brief. I think the "Stack" that your team designed and had made is awesome. Well designed and well made. Please pass that along to all. Yes going from OEM to this great stack and seat is a transition in terms of positioning. And it turns out so nice going to it. I sit slid further back than I used to. I think that I had been riding too far forward in my FJ in the OEM seats for quite a while. The nearly vertical windshield on the FJ had influenced me to go forward I think ha ha. The Klima gives better access to the back when it tilts forward than the OEM seat did. Unexpected and of course nice. The thing is that I do not have to slide the seat for back access like I used to with the OEM. I have it in my truck (FJ), not my final install, temporarily wired up to a switched and fused source. Other heated seats in other cars that I have sat in made me like uncomfortably burning hot and so I did not use them. And the heat from them was too narrow in coverage. Well the Klima has a nice gentle heat and it is mostly everywhere. After running the heat I turned it off and the Klima on and that whisked away the heat from all over very nicely. The cooling system is _good_. works very nicely. Anyway I will be taking the seat out to install a Blue Sea USB and tidying and securing the wiring as shown. Sliding the sensor, proxy, etc onto the tabs. I had not removed the little OEM snap-on clips and so that may have been why I did not notice how to put them onto the bracket. Tolerance shows removing the clips at about 3min into this video. I will be facing the Blue Sea outlets to the inside of the pan of course, right? So I can charge devices such as battery jumper pack, flashlight, or whatever. Even though this is not part of the seat or Stack install, I mention that I will be using a Blue Sea fuse box, for the other accessories that I have and the Klima, sourced by a relay that is triggered when the key is in ACC or greater. Of course keeping correct wire gauge and fuse amperage for everything as required. I will move the Klima fan fuse and the Klima harness fuse to the box. Last spring I installed the AUX Fuel Tank produced by Man-a-Fre and so with it and the seats I am set to "go". The FJ holds around 39 gallons of gasoline now. By the way that AUX tank is a piece of art also. Thanks,Jim C."

Preparing for Your scheel-mann Upgrade When removing the factory seat in preparation for your scheel-mann installation: • Note the routing of wiring harnesses around seat mounting points • Disconnect the vehicle's battery before beginning work • Wait at least 90 seconds before handling any yellow airbag SRS connectors • Store the disconnected factory seat with airbag components facing upward Understanding Your 3rd Gen Tacoma Seat Wiring Before Upgrading to scheel-mann Seats Before undertaking the popular scheel-mann Vario seat upgrade for your 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma, it's essential to understand the factory electrical setup underneath your stock seat. This knowledge will make the transition smoother as you'll need to reuse some of these harnesses when installing your aftermarket seats. Factory Seat Wiring: What's Under Your Tacoma's Driver Seat The 3rd Gen Tacoma equipped with powered and heated seat features a comprehensive wiring system with several distinct connectors. Each serves a specific purpose in the seat's functionality and safety systems: Key Connector Components 1. Heated & Powered Seat Connector This large, square, multi-pin connector carries power and ground for the seat motor functions plus power, ground, and control for the seat heater. 2. Mid-Harness Connector This mid-harness connector connects the floor harness to the seat heater computer, and with our newest harness design, no longer gets reused. The only harness being reused is the seatbelt, it's harness, and the seat heater computer. 3. Seatbelt & Proximity Sensor This safety connector interfaces with the vehicle's seatbelt warning system and occupant detection. It signals the vehicle when the seat is occupied and whether the seatbelt is fastened. This connection must be retained and properly integrated with your new seats to avoid warning lights and maintain safety functionality. 4. SRS/Airbag Connector  The distinctive yellow connector is part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). It controls the side airbags built into the factory seat. When upgrading to scheel-mann seats, you'll need a proper solution for this connection to prevent airbag warning lights. This installation requires our INCLUDED Airbag Proxy since aftermarket seats don't include side airbags. No need to purchase additional but for more info: Airbag Proxy/Simulator- Type 2 https://www.wix.app/stores/eb8ac173-d1a4-4981-a1fd-a39b201d8b89/catalog/c12fb492-9219-fe32-1a3b-f15b4e6389c8?d=https://www.tolerance-stack.com/product-page/airbag-proxy-simulator-for-gen3-tacoma-type-2 1. Seat Heater Computer This small black control module regulates the temperature of the heating elements. It processes input from the dashboard controls and manages power to the heating elements. Upgrading to scheel-mann model, you will need to repurpose this component to get the OEM seat heater dash buttons to operate correctly. By understanding the factory connector setup, shown in the main image, before beginning your upgrade, you'll be better prepared to integrate your new scheel-mann Vario F seats while maintaining as much original functionality as possible. This pre-upgrade knowledge helps ensure your premium seat upgrade enhances your Tacoma's comfort without compromising its safety systems or creating electrical headaches.

At Tolerance Stack, we're committed to providing not only robust and precise mounting solutions to attach the scheel-mann Vario F to your vehicle, but also components with exceptional durability and a lasting finish. A key element in achieving this is the anodizing process we utilize for our mounting system side panels. What is Anodizing? Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the outer layer of aluminum into a durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Unlike paint, Cerakote or powder coating, which simply apply a layer on the surface (with varying thicknesses to accommodate for), anodizing is a controlled oxidation process that integrates with the underlying aluminum, resulting in an incredibly strong and long-lasting finish. The anodic layer is typically much thicker and harder than the naturally occurring oxide layer on aluminum. The anodizing plant we use for our parts The General Anodizing Process: While variations exist, the basic steps in anodizing aluminum are: 1. Cleaning: The aluminum part is thoroughly cleaned to remove any dirt, grease, or other contaminants. This ensures a uniform anodized layer. 2. Etching (Optional): Sometimes, a chemical etch is used to create a matte or textured surface. 3. Desmutting: This step removes any residue ("smut") left from the etching process. 4. Anodizing: The aluminum part is immersed in an electrolytic bath (typically an acid solution, such as sulfuric acid) and serves as the anode (positive electrode). An electric current is passed through the solution, causing a layer of aluminum oxide to form on the surface of the aluminum. The process is carefully controlled to achieve the desired thickness and properties of the anodic layer. The images above and below show a typical anodizing setup with multiple tanks for the various stages. 5. Coloring (Optional): If a colored finish is desired, the porous anodic layer can be dyed with various pigments. The facility we use does only black and clear. "Clear" gives a uniform matted look to the finished part with no colored dye added. If you are a fan of cool looking CNC machining marks then doing Clear anodize hides that in it's anodic layer. 6. Sealing: The final step involves sealing the porous anodic layer to prevent corrosion and improve wear resistance. This is often done by immersing the part in boiling de-ionized water or a chemical sealant. The additional chemical baths needed for anodizing Tolerance Stack's Anodizing Process: Strength and Style Our process for anodizing the side panels (and rear mounting brackets, for the Tacoma and FJ Cruiser) of our mounting systems is carefully tailored to ensure the highest quality and durability. 1. Material and Fabrication: We start with either 1/8" formed or 3/16" thick flat aluminum sheet. This provides a strong and stable base for our side panels. The aluminum is then laser-cut to the precise dimensions required for our designs and tumbled to remove sharp edges and create a smooth surface. 2. Fiber Laser Engraving: Before anodizing, we use a fiber laser to engrave the Tolerance Stack logo onto the side panels. This creates a permanent and aesthetically pleasing mark that showcases our brand. The logo, as seen below, is precisely engraved into the aluminum. The logo is angled to visually sit parallel with the vehicle's door sill. 3. Anodizing: The laser-engraved aluminum parts then undergo the anodizing process, following a similar procedure to the general steps outlined above. This creates a hard, durable, and corrosion-resistant finish that protects the aluminum and enhances its appearance. 4. Sealing: The anodized parts are then sealed, ensuring a long-lasting finish that can withstand the rigors of automotive use. Fiber laser engraving BEFORE the anodize process The result is a mounting system side panel that is not only strong and precisely engineered but also boasts a durable and attractive finish, thanks to the anodizing process. #Anodizing #Aluminum #ToleranceStack #MountingSystems #Manufacturing #MetalFinishing #LaserEngraving #Automotive #Engineering #MaterialScience #SurfaceTreatment #CorrosionResistance #DurableFinish #ProductDesign

Using Send-Cut-Send to produce all of our wiring harness brackets As with any company dedicated to quality and innovation, we're constantly developing new products. This exciting phase means our production numbers are determined by the initial demands of new innovations, and forecasting customer purchases can be challenging. Large-scale production runs, where the significant economics of scale truly kick in, aren't yet our primary focus. That's why we've made a strategic decision: to partner with Send-Cut-Send, a US-based operation, for our precision wiring harness bracket manufacturing. Embracing Agility in Manufacturing We've built our Tolerance Stack brand on quality, rapid development, and customer satisfaction. By collaborating with Send-Cut-Send, we gain access to cutting-edge manufacturing technology and specialized expertise without the massive upfront investment in equipment or the pressure of meeting large minimum quantities. This allows us to focus on what we do best: designing innovative products, responding quickly to market feedback, and delivering exceptional customer service. It’s about being smart and agile. The Specific Benefits of Outsourcing Small-Batch Manufacturing to Send-Cut-Send For a company focused on development and small-batch production, Send-Cut-Send offers distinct advantages: • Uncompromising Quality, Even for Small Batches: Send-Cut-Send's commitment to precision and quality aligns perfectly with our own standards. They use advanced equipment and rigorous quality control processes to ensure every wiring harness bracket, whether it's for a prototype or a production run, meets our exact specifications. Crucially, for our wiring harness brackets, we've chosen 4130 Chromoly steel. This material provides a huge increase in strength, allowing for a robust and durable component without requiring additional dimpling, simplifying the design while maximizing performance. This means consistent quality from concept to delivery. • Agile Production and Rapid Iteration: In our phase of new product development, rapid prototyping and quick adjustments are vital. Send-Cut-Send truly excels here; their standard production times are typically 2-4 days before shipping. This means from the moment we place an order, through their efficient production, shipment, and final delivery, the entire process can often be completed within one week. If we were to engage a large-scale production firm, we would have to fit within their fixed schedules, which could translate into turnaround times anywhere from 4-6 weeks, if not longer. This speed allows us to test, refine, and bring new products to market much faster without being burdened by slow, in-house manufacturing processes or excessive inventory. • Optimized Cost-Effectiveness for Our Needs: While our focus isn't on maximizing large-scale economies of scale, Send-Cut-Send offers highly competitive pricing for small to medium batches of wiring harness brackets. This allows us to avoid the significant capital expenditure of purchasing and maintaining specialized machinery, turning what would be a fixed cost into a variable one that scales directly with our current production needs. Furthermore, the efficiency of their rapid turnaround often comes without a price disadvantage, unlike the longer lead times often associated with large firms. • Focus on Core Competencies and Innovation: Outsourcing our wiring harness bracket manufacturing frees up our internal resources and talent to concentrate on what truly drives our business forward: innovative design, rigorous testing, and delivering an unparalleled customer experience. We can dedicate more time to research and development. • Supporting US Manufacturing: We are proud to partner with a US-based company, supporting American jobs and contributing to the growth of the domestic manufacturing sector. Pros and Cons of Using Online Sources for Light Manufacturing (Especially for Projects with Variable Demand) To provide a balanced perspective, here's a look at the general pros and cons of using online sources for light manufacturing, particularly relevant for projects with uncertain demand and varying batch sizes: Pros: • Integrated Finishing Options: Send-Cut-Send offers convenient post-processing options like zinc plating and powder coating directly within their platform. While the pricing for these services may not always be as competitive as a dedicated, specialized finishing shop for very large batches, the convenience of having these processes handled by the same vendor is a significant advantage for our small-batch productions, saving us time and logistical effort. Typically our local powder coater, for example, is sometimes 1-2 weeks plus delivery times. • Free Shipping – A Major Cost Saver: For our wiring harness brackets, this is a huge advantage. Send-Cut-Send offers free US shipping on orders over $39. This significantly reduces the overall price per piece, especially on smaller orders. In the past, we would often pay hundreds of dollars for shipping for some of our production runs, a substantial expense that is now eliminated. • Access to Specialized Expertise without Capital Outlay: Get high-quality parts like simple wiring harness brackets made with advanced machinery and skilled operators without needing to buy or maintain that equipment yourself. • Flexibility and Scalability for Variable Demand: Easily order small batches for new products or increase order sizes as demand grows, without being locked into large minimum quantities which is very common for local shops. • Cost-Effectiveness for Variable Demand: Pay only for what you need, eliminating the fixed costs associated with in-house manufacturing equipment and labor. • Faster Turnaround Times for Prototyping and Market Testing: Quickly move from design to physical product, accelerating your development cycles and allowing for rapid market feedback. The speed of production even allows us A and B product design market testing where typically there wouldn't be time to experiment. • Wider Selection of Materials and Processes: Tap into a vast array of manufacturing capabilities (laser cutting, bending, machining, etc.) and materials that would be impractical to manage in-house for low-volume runs. Cons: • Communication Style: While their system is efficient, communication is primarily email and chat-based. This means we don't have a dedicated sales representative or production lead we can simply call by phone. At times, this can present minor challenges in direct, immediate clarification, though the system is designed for clear, documented interactions. • Initial Vetting and Trust-Building: It's essential to thoroughly research and establish trust with online manufacturers to ensure consistent quality and reliability. • Reduced Hands-On Control: You relinquish direct control over the manufacturing process, relying on the vendor's expertise and quality control. This can be a hard pill to swallow if you are the type that likes to "drop in" and check how things are going and see the process as it happens and give feedback. Our Commitment to Your Trust We believe this strategic approach, leveraging Send-Cut-Send for our precision wiring harness bracket manufacturing, positions us for continued innovation and allows us to bring exceptional products to you more efficiently. We remain committed to transparency and will always keep you informed about our processes. Thank you for your continued support. #Manufacturing #Outsourcing #SendCutSend #CustomParts #WiringHarness #Brackets #MetalFabrication #ChromolySteel #SmallBatch #RapidPrototyping #USAManufacturing #AgileManufacturing #SupplyChain #ProductDevelopment #Innovation #Engineering #CostSavings #FreeShipping #FastTurnaround #MadeInUSA #LightManufacturing #PrecisionParts

Access under the Vario F seat For off-road enthusiasts and those who value functional vehicle interiors, every inch of usable space is precious, especially in a pick-up truck. Tolerance Stack has ingeniously leveraged the design of the comfortable and ergonomic scheel-mann Vario F seats to offer innovative, integrated storage solutions for popular vehicles like the Toyota Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, and 4th Gen 4Runner. Klima pan mounted to the scheel-mann Vario F klima seat The scheel-mann Vario F seats feature a unique design where the seat bottom can be lifted up, originally intended in vehicles like the Defender to provide access to components like the battery located underneath. Tolerance Stack has adapted this concept, designing their seat brackets and compatible seat pans to take full advantage of this inherent space, creating valuable storage bins beneath both the driver and passenger seats. The images below illustrates the concept of this under-seat storage, showing how the seat base can be lifted to reveal a hidden compartment, often secured by a latching mechanism. Tolerance Stack offers tailored storage solutions depending on the seat type: • Non-Klima Compatible Seats: For passenger-side seats without the Klima (heating/cooling) feature, a specifically designed storage box fits snugly between the relocated load cells. This box is positioned onto crossbars just below the seat mount, keeping it discreet and out of casual sight. A crucial aspect of this design is that it prevents the weight of stored items from being added to the SRS (airbag system) weight calculations, ensuring safety is not compromised. When it comes to storage, things work a little differently depending on whether you have the heat-only or Klima seats. With the heat-only pans, storage is an available option for both the driver and passenger. The driver's side storage mounts directly to the pan. On the passenger side heat-only pan, though, the storage attaches separately to the cross-members. This setup is designed so the weight in the passenger storage doesn't count towards the OCS airbag calculations. • Klima Compatible Seats: Now, if you choose the full Klima pans, storage is built right into the pan on both sides. For the driver's side Klima storage, the weight you put in doesn't affect the OCS at all, letting you maximize that space. But keep in mind, on the passenger side Klima pan, we've limited the size of the built-in storage box. We did this to help control the amount of weight that gets added here, since the weight in the passenger side Klima storage does still contribute to the sensor's overall weight reading for the OCS. These integrated storage solutions are not just about hiding things away; they're designed with practical, modern needs in mind. They are perfect for keeping frequently needed items securely stored and easily accessible, such as phones, laptops, squirt guns, or even freeing up space in your glove compartment by relocating bulky items like the owner's manual. using the storage for powering and securing your devices Understanding the importance of connectivity, Tolerance Stack has incorporated thoughtful features into these storage areas. All storage boxes (both Klima and non-Klima compatible) come with pre-cut features for adding a USB or cigarette lighter power outlet, allowing you to power or charge devices within the secure compartment. A pass-through plug is also included if you simply need to route a USB wire through. Seen here is the spring and spacer pack that is used to take a pre-determined "load" off of the sensors to compensate for the added weight of the scheel-mann seats Navigating the intricacies of modern vehicle safety systems reveals a fascinating level of technological sophistication, particularly within Toyota's Occupant Classification System (OCS). Found in vehicles like the Tacoma (2nd and 3rd Gen, 2005-2023), FJ Cruiser, and 4Runner, the passenger seat houses a precisely calibrated array of load-cell sensors – typically four per seat for earlier models and two in the latest – all working in unison. These aren't just simple pressure pads; they're highly sensitive load-cell transducers, each converting force into an electrical signal. This allows for a highly granular measurement of weight and its distribution, painting a detailed picture of the occupant's presence. This level of precision is critical for the OCS control module, the system's "brain," which analyzes this data to inform the airbag SRS control unit. This ensures that in the event of a collision, the airbag deployment is tailored to the occupant, whether it's a full-force deployment for a large adult, a reduced-force deployment for a smaller occupant, or complete suppression for an empty seat or a child seat. However, when enthusiasts or owners choose to upgrade their vehicle's interior with aftermarket seats, like scheel-mann's Vario F/XXL, these highly integrated OEM systems can encounter issues. Aftermarket seats often have different mounting points, weight distribution, or structural characteristics that can lead to the OCS system reading an incorrect occupant weight, or worse, triggering an airbag warning light, indicating a safety system fault. The Critical Danger: Why "Destructively Modifying" Your Toyota's Occupancy System is a Recipe for Disaster The internet is a vast repository of information, sometimes helpful, sometimes dangerously misguided. As the Tolerance Stack article highlights, a few years ago, certain online communities propagated a dangerously misguided approach to manipulate the OCS. https://www.tolerance-stack.com/post/the-load-cell-array-function-and-why-modifying-isn-t-the-best-idea This involved physically modifying the seat's load-cell arrays by cutting off mounting tabs and clamping them down with standard hose clamps, effectively "tricking" the system into registering maximum weight — at ALL TIMES. There is no worse plan then to destructively modify your load cells to register "max" weight. Modifying these load-cell arrays in such a manner fundamentally compromises the OCS's accuracy. By forcing the sensors to register "maximum weight," you override the system's ability to differentiate between occupants. This means the airbag and seatbelt restraints will most likely deploy with maximum force in every collision, regardless of who—or what or IF—is in the passenger seat. This creates a significant risk of injury, especially for children or smaller adults, who are particularly vulnerable to the excessive force of a full-power airbag deployment. Online forums and social media groups, while valuable resources for community and shared experiences, can sometimes propagate misinformation. It's crucial to distinguish between anecdotal experiences and expert, safety-conscious advice. An Ingenious Mechanical Solution: Precisely Calibrated Spring Compression for Proper OCS Integration This is where a clever and properly engineered mechanical solution, as provided in the Tolerance Stack Klima Vario F/XXL Passenger Seat KIT, comes into play, as illustrated by the image at the top of this article. This kit is designed for 2ND/3RD GENERATION TOYOTA TACOMA (2005-2023) or FJ Cruiser applications, and importantly, it ensures properly engineered mounting to relocate the OEM load cells without permanently damaging the sensors. When installing aftermarket seats like the scheel-mann, you must carefully transfer the OCS components from your original seats. This was never a simple swap before Tolerance Stack's meticulous engineering. The concept involves using specifically chosen springs, combined with a precise stack of washers or spacers, to apply a constant, measured "weight" onto the load cell. Here's how it works: 1. The Specific Spring: The TSK-B013 kit includes two specific springs. These springs act as the primary mechanism to apply the desired "load." This accomplished with the specific spring taking a prescribed "load", when tuned, off the sensors. 2. Washers/Spacers for Precision: Washers are stacked onto the pins on the bottom side of the seat pan, under the springs. By varying the number of these washers, the spring's initial compression can be minutely adjusted. Each washer "stage" accounts for approximately +/- 5lbs, according to the sensors. 3. Calibrated Compression: As the washers are added, they compress the spring. According to Hooke's Law (F=kx), this compression (x) translates directly into a specific force (F) exerted by the spring. 4. Dictating "Weight" to the Load Cell: This precisely calibrated spring/washer force is then applied directly onto the vehicle's passenger side load cell array. The load cell, in turn, registers the spring's consistent force as a specific "weight," which is then communicated to the OCS computer. The aim is to ensure the system recognizes an appropriate weight for airbag activation. The crucial final weight test: the seat light should come on between 8 and 22lbs. If the light comes on before 8lbs, washers are added; if it comes on after 22lbs, washers are removed. This "spring load" method essentially provides a fixed, predetermined weight to the OCS, overriding any inconsistencies introduced by the aftermarket seat itself, while crucially maintaining the integrity of the original sensors. A Comprehensive Kit for Installation The Tolerance Stack seat mounting kit is comprehensive, including the full range of components such as the passenger seat pan, felt liner, various front and rear mounting brackets, sensor computer mount, harness and proxy mounts, crossmembers, USB plug/pass-thru, seat belt spacer, hardware kit, heater and Klima extension harnesses, and an airbag proxy. This ensures a complete solution for integrating aftermarket scheel-mann Klima seats into your Tacoma or FJ Cruiser while addressing the OCS requirements. It's important to note that the mounting instructions mention two methods to achieve correct weight registration: 1. Zero-point calibration via TechStream: If this method is used, the springs and washers are not needed: TechStream quick run down 1. The Mechanical Solution: Using the springs and washers as described in this article.. The Indispensable Importance of Precision and Safety While this mechanical method, when part of a properly engineered kit, can be highly effective, it's crucial to understand the complexities and inherent safety implications: • Optimal Airbag Performance: Proper OCS integration ensures your airbag deploys as intended, protecting you and your passengers, regardless of size, and regardless if you remembered a modification made years earlier. • Accurate Occupant Detection: The system needs precise data to differentiate between adults, children, and empty seats for safe deployment. • Safety System Integrity: Modifying or attempting to bypass the OCS can compromise other safety features and create unpredictable airbag behavior. • Avoiding Malfunctions: Incorrect installation leads to warning lights and potential system failures. This type of modification is a testament to the ingenuity within the automotive enthusiast community, seeking robust solutions for complex electronic problems. Always prioritize safety and consult with experts when modifying components related to vehicle occupant protection. #ToyotaTacoma #Tacoma #FJCruiser #4Runner #ToyotaMods #OccupantClassificationSystem #OCS #LoadCells #AirbagSafety #VehicleSafety #AftermarketSeats #ScheelMann #KlimaSeats #SuspensionTuning #PrecisionEngineering #DIYCarMods #AutomotiveSafety #SeatUpgrade #CustomFabrication #ToyotaLife #OffroadMods #SafetyFirst #TSKB013 #ToleranceStack #CarMaintenance #MechanicalSolution #AirbagSystem #SRS

Plenty of research goes into determining the correct wiring harness for various makes and models. At Tolerance Stack, our commitment extends beyond providing robust seat mounting solutions. We strive for seamless integration, ensuring that your new scheel-mann Vario F seats function flawlessly in your vehicle when installed using our precise mounting kits. A crucial, often unseen, aspect of achieving this perfect fit and functionality is the development of custom wiring harnesses designed specifically for this installation application. Replacing your factory seats with premium scheel-mann Vario F seats requires careful consideration of the vehicle's electrical system. Modern vehicles are complex, with seat-related functions like heating, power adjustments, and airbag sensors all intricately woven into the vehicle's wiring. Simply cutting and splicing wires is rarely an option – it can lead to error codes, dash lights, and even compromise safety systems. Our approach focuses on creating plug-and-play solutions that enable the proper functionality of the scheel-mann Vario F seats within your vehicle's existing electrical architecture, all without compromising its integrity. The Research Deep Dive Developing a custom wiring harness for scheel-mann Vario F seat installations is a meticulous process, starting with in-depth research. This involves several key areas: • Connector Identification: We meticulously identify the exact types of connectors used in your vehicle's original seat harness. The image at the top of this article provides a glimpse into this process, showcasing the various connectors and wiring configurations we analyze. We research manufacturers and suppliers to source these connectors, ensuring they meet OEM quality standards for the best possible connection. • Terminal Pin Types: Within each connector, different terminal pins are used to carry various signals (power, ground, data). We determine the precise pin types, their current and voltage ratings, and the appropriate wire gauge for each circuit. This ensures the harness we develop integrates perfectly with your vehicle's system. Nearly all are sourced from Japanese sources but there are a few American sources as well. Hinting down the appropriate terminal pin via Japanese sources can be tricky. • Toyota's Wiring Harness Diagrams: To understand the intricate wiring paths and ensure correct functionality when integrating the scheel-mann Vario F seats, we rely on Toyota's factory wiring diagrams. These detailed schematics, while invaluable, can be complex and sometimes challenging to interpret. Utilizing the specialized Toyota wiring harness program (TIS - Technical Information System) is essential for accurately mapping out the correct wiring path for the scheel-mann Vario F seat's functions. The Challenge of the Unknown Despite our thorough research and access to factory diagrams, a crucial element remains: "We don't know what we don't know." Factory options, regional variations, and year-to-year changes can introduce unique wiring configurations that aren't always explicitly documented in standard diagrams. This is where your input becomes invaluable. The Importance of Customer Feedback Customer feedback and overall involvement helps guarantee success To overcome the challenge of unknown factory options and ensure our harnesses work for as many configurations as possible, we rely heavily on customer feedback and visual documentation. Photos of your vehicle's original seat harness connectors, detailed descriptions of your specific vehicle's options (e.g., heated seats, power seats, memory functions), and any relevant information you can provide are crucial. This collaborative approach allows us to identify variations, refine our harness designs, and ensure compatibility across a wider range of vehicle models and trim levels, paving the way for more comprehensive plug-and-play solutions. Our Commitment: Flawless Integration & Plug-and-Play Solutions Our ultimate goal is to provide plug-and-play wiring harnesses that facilitate the correct integration of scheel-mann Vario F seats with our mounting solutions. This means you can install your new seats without cutting or splicing any wires, preserving the integrity of your vehicle's electrical system and, most importantly, avoiding error codes or dashboard warning lights. We are absolutely committed to only offering a solution if we can achieve this correctly and reliably. Our next major goal is to ensure that every harness we develop is as "plug-n-play" as possible, eliminating the need for any wire tapping or complex electrical work on your end. For many vehicle owners, particularly those who venture off-road or simply value preparedness, secure and accessible firearm storage in their vehicle is a critical consideration. While numerous solutions exist, finding one that integrates seamlessly with high-quality aftermarket components can be a challenge. If you're running scheel-mann seats – renowned for their comfort and durability – and appreciate the precision of Tolerance Stack's mounting solutions, you might be intrigued by an often-overlooked possibility that arises from our design: creating a space beneath your scheel-mann seat that could accommodate a firearm holster. Note: won't work with Klima seat mounting nor heat-only mounts with storage Mounting a firearm under the seat At Tolerance Stack, we're all about creating robust, precise mounting solutions that enhance your vehicle's functionality. Our scheel-mann seat mounts are engineered for a perfect fit, providing a stable foundation not just for your premium seats, but also creating a usable space underneath. Please note: Tolerance Stack provides the seat mounting solutions. We are not offering or suggesting specific firearm mounting solutions, but rather pointing out that our design, when an under-seat storage box is not installed, creates an area where a customer could technically mount their own firearm holster. That choice, along with all associated legal and safety responsibilities, rests solely with the customer. The Under-Seat Advantage (and the Crucial Caveat) When our scheel-mann seat mounts are utilized without an under-seat storage box, the space created can offer several benefits for integrating a personal firearm holster: 1. Discretion: Helps keep a firearm out of sight from casual glances. 2. Accessibility (with trade-offs): For customers who choose to integrate their own holster for access from the seat, it can allow for quick retrieval if needed. 3. Potential for Security: When combined with a proper, customer-provided holster or mounting system, it can offer a more secure alternative to simply placing a firearm loosely in a console or glove box. Mounting a firearm under the seat Here's the critical point: For this under-seat space to be available for holster integration, it means that any under-seat storage box, like those we might otherwise offer with our mounts for general storage purposes, cannot be installed. This space is then available for the customer's chosen firearm holster and its mounting mechanism. It's a deliberate choice between general hidden storage and the potential for firearm holster integration. Leveraging the Space: Accommodating Third-Party Holster Solutions When our scheel-mann seat mounts are installed without a storage box, they create a usable space beneath the seat frame. This area could technically accommodate various third-party firearm retention solutions that customers may choose to integrate. Customers often explore options such as: • Custom Kydex Holsters: Many manufacturers create custom Kydex holsters designed for specific firearms that can be adapted for mounting to a flat surface, offering secure retention. • Magnetic Mounts: High-strength magnetic mounts can provide quick attachment and detachment for certain firearms, though it's essential to choose magnets strong enough to secure the firearm against vehicle vibrations and impacts. • Fabric Holsters with Rigid Backing: For lighter firearms, a robust fabric holster with a rigid backer plate can sometimes be adapted and fastened within the available space. Mounting a firearm under the seat Regardless of the specific retention method a customer chooses, ensuring their firearm is securely mounted to prevent movement during driving, especially during off-road excursions, is paramount. Navigating the Law: Essential Legal Considerations for Vehicle Carry Disclaimer: Firearm laws are highly specific, complex, and vary significantly by state, county, and even municipality. This information is for general guidance and is NOT legal advice. It is YOUR sole responsibility to research and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding firearm possession, carry, and transportation. When in doubt, always consult a qualified legal professional. Tolerance Stack provides seat mounting solutions but offers no opinion or endorsement on the customer's decision to mount a firearm or the specific methods chosen for doing so; that choice and the responsibility for legal compliance are entirely the customer's. Mounting a firearm under the seat Understanding the legal landscape for carrying a firearm in your vehicle is critical. It is crucial to remember that laws across the United States have distinct differences. Here are key areas to consider for any in-vehicle firearm mounting solution: • Concealed Carry Permits/Licenses: Most states require a Concealed Carry Permit or License (often abbreviated as CCP, CCW, CHL, etc.) to carry a loaded, concealed firearm in a vehicle. An under-seat mounted firearm would almost certainly be considered "concealed." Without such a permit, you could face serious legal consequences. • Loaded vs. Unloaded: State laws often differentiate between carrying a loaded versus an unloaded firearm in a vehicle. Even if unloaded, some states have specific requirements for how firearms must be transported (e.g., in a locked case, separate from ammunition). • Specific Storage Requirements: Some states mandate that firearms, especially if carried without a permit, be stored in a specific manner, such as in a glove compartment, console, or locked container. An under-seat mounted firearm might not qualify under these definitions if it's not a dedicated, locked compartment. • Prohibited Locations: Be aware of "gun-free zones" that might extend to vehicles, such as school zones, federal properties, courthouses, or specific public events. • Reciprocity: If you travel across state lines, remember that your permit from one state may not be recognized in another, or specific carry laws may differ. It is imperative that before implementing any in-vehicle firearm storage solution, you thoroughly research and understand the specific laws of your state, and any states you plan to travel through. Safety First, Always Beyond legal compliance, responsible firearm ownership demands a commitment to safety. When considering an under-seat holster integration: • Trigger Discipline: Ensure the mounting method prevents accidental trigger engagement. • Muzzle Direction: Ensure the firearm is oriented so that its muzzle is pointed in a safe direction, ideally towards the floorboard. • Secure Retention: The chosen holster and its mounting must securely hold the firearm to prevent it from becoming a projectile in the event of an accident or sudden stop. • Training: Regular training with your chosen firearm and its deployment method is crucial for safe and effective use. Optimize Your Ride with Tolerance Stack The space beneath your scheel-mann seat, facilitated by Tolerance Stack's robust mounting solutions when a storage box is not installed, presents a discreet area where customers might choose to integrate their own firearm holster. It offers discretion and accessibility, assuming you understand and adhere to the necessary legal requirements for concealed carry in your specific jurisdiction. The backrest release handle provides easy access to the rear of the cabin. The Vario F Klima Option: Enhanced Comfort in Any Climate For the ultimate in year-round comfort, consider the Vario F Klima. This variant integrates active ventilation fans and heating elements directly into the backrest and seat cushion. • Active Ventilation: Say goodbye to sweaty backs on hot days. The integrated fans circulate air, keeping you cool and comfortable even during demanding tasks or summer adventures. • Integrated Heating: When the temperatures drop, the Vario F Klima provides soothing warmth, making those cold morning starts or winter drives much more enjoyable. Addressing the Traveler R for Trucks and SUVs While the Scheel-mann Traveler R offers excellent sporty support, its design might present some challenges for truck and SUV owners: • High Side Bolsters and Wear: The deep side bolsters, while ideal for keeping you planted during dynamic driving in cars, can lead to increased wear and tear on the bolster's outer edge when exiting taller vehicles. The natural tendency to "slide out" puts extra friction on this area over time. • Fixed Seat Bottom: The Traveler R's fixed seat bottom lacks the adjustable thigh support found in the Vario F, which can be less than ideal for drivers who need customized leg support in the higher seating position of a truck or SUV. Conclusion: The Vario F - Tailored Comfort for Your Truck or SUV For truck and SUV owners seeking superior comfort, adjustability, and durability, the scheel-mann Vario F stands out as an exceptional choice. Its customizable features, including adjustable thigh support and side bolsters, cater specifically to the needs of drivers in taller vehicles. Whether you opt for the standard Vario F or the climate-controlled Vario F Klima, you're investing in a seat designed to enhance your driving experience mile after mile.

This is not just a mounting solution; it is the only solution specifically engineered for the 5th Gen 4Runner to allow for a premium seat upgrade while completely resolving the common electronic conflicts that cause frustrating dash lights and computer errors. Our innovative approach centers on reusing the fore-aft motor assembly and rail system from your existing 4Runner driver's seat, ensuring you retain the convenient powered seat movement you're accustomed to. What sets our kit apart is the meticulous engineering to integrate seamlessly with your vehicle's complex electronics. It maintains factory seat belt sensor functionality and, crucially, communicates correctly with the vehicle's systems to prevent any SRS (airbag) or other diagnostic error lights – a problem uniquely solved by our kit. Testing of the Tolerance Stack mounting solution and fore-aft motor Installation is designed to be as integrated as possible, including all specialized components and wiring needed to tie into existing systems. Our specialized seat heater harness allows you to tie into the factory heating system (if vehicle has factory heated seats), meaning your existing dashboard heat buttons will control the heating function of your new scheel-mann heated or Klima heated and cooled seat, without triggering any electronic issues related to the vehicle's computer. Note on Core Charge: Please note that your stock OEM seat heater harness, which you will not use for the upgrade, is needed back at Tolerance Stack because one of those connectors is not available. The one we will ship for your order was a donor connector. That core charge is $100 and is immediately refunded once the self-address pre-labeled padded envelop we ship with your order comes back to us for reuse. Note on Cooling: For scheel-mann Klima seats, the cooling function is controlled independently from the factory heating system, typically via separate round control buttons provided with the scheel-mann seat, which are typically added to the center console. Our kit facilitates the overall seat swap and heating integration, but the cooling control is managed separately. We are actively developing an integrated solution to allow control of the cooling function using factory-looking switches in the future. 5th Gen 4Runner early in the development Key Features & Benefits: * The ONLY solution to prevent ALL dash lights & computer errors: uniquely engineered to integrate seamlessly with the 5th Gen 4Runner's electronics, preventing SRS and other diagnostic errors associated with seat swaps – a problem solved exclusively by our kit. * Compatible with Heated & Cooled (Klima) Seats: Designed to work seamlessly with both scheel-mann Heated and Klima Heated and Cooled versions of the Vario F and XXL seats. * Integrates Factory Heating Control: Includes the necessary harness to tie into your 4Runner's factory seat heating system (if equipped), allowing you to control the heating function using existing dashboard buttons. * Retain Powered Fore-Aft Adjustment: Uniquely designed to reuse your 4Runner's OEM driver's side fore-aft motor assembly and rail system, ensuring you keep convenient powered seat movement. (Requires dissecting OEM seat). * Preserve Safety Systems: Engineered to maintain factory seat belt sensor functionality and ensure safety systems remain active without errors. * Integrated USB Pass-Thru: Includes a convenient USB plug/pass-thru component. * Clean Wiring Management: Comes with a harness mount tree for organized installation. * Engineered for 5th Gen 4Runner: Specifically designed for a precise fit and function in the driver's side of the 2010+ Toyota 4Runner platform. The kit integrates the heating control with factory buttons and ensures no electronic errors. Cooling control is managed separately by controls provided with the Scheel-Mann seat (typically round buttons for the center console), with a future integrated solution in development. * Customer reuses the OEM seat belt and harness with the included seat belt bracket and hardware. The completed install for @resman.93 in his @truckhouse.co 2022 Tacoma manual access cab. This rig was an absolute dream to work on. No b-pillars to get in the way. It felt cavernous. There is so much more to yet report about our tiny part of the build. In this setup you can see that the uncomfortable OEM Tacoma seats have been 86'd and @scheelmannusa #VarioF seats have been installed in their place. Nothing beats the ergonomics and orthopedics of a Vario seat. This TruckHouse Tacoma got driver and passenger black leather seats with the #Klima heating and cooling package. This meant going the next step and doing all the wiring to make the OEM seat heater switches play nice but also to have the Klima switches blend in (more on that later). For our part, seeing the culmination of all of our hard work come to fruition is amazing. We spent a good 12hrs on location but the actual install was less than half of that. Plenty of interruptions when you are setting up for photography and video work. :P

Love it when customers send us installation pics and are happy with their install and overall experience. This customer out of Washington made the driver side upgrade using the Tolerance Stack kit to mount his scheel-mann Vario into his 2023 Tacoma TRD. He was able to locate his own manual seat from a junkyard which meant he didn't have to tear apart his own driver seat. Just an additional Driver’s Seat Position Sensor Conversion Jumper Harness was all that was needed in addition to our kit.

In General Discussion
When designing the mating interface between your Toyota truck/SUV and the scheel-mann Vario F seats, Tolerance Stack is content playing the unobtrusive go-between. When deciding on a seat upgrade, it's usually a defining moment right?• My back hurts, time for better seats?• I can't do long trips anymore because of my back.• Back surgery, no riding in the truck for me anymore.• These seats are ugly smell funny, and are ripped. • These OEM seats are horrible.• I'm about to sell this truck the seats are so bad. Now that's settled, its time to research seats right? Keep it simple because there is only ONE compamy even making an all-in solution for your Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, or 4Runner. That is where Tolerance Stack comes in and with the task of staying out of sight, playing nice with Toyota and scheel-mann, and just getting it right the first time. Final decision is material and color, heated or heated and cooled.

We know it can be a very difficult decision; on one hand you are thinking that someone somewhere REALLY wants your clapped-out, sweat-soaked, butt-dented seats. That's real money, cash. Or you can take a chainsaw (or preferably a socket wrench) to your old, torn seats and upgrade them to a set of scheel-mann Vario F, with an assist by Tolerance Stack, to FINALLY give your sore back some love. Sacrificing your original Tacoma seat by removing components for the Tolerance Stack mounting system does mean you likely won't be able to resell it as a complete unit. To determine if this is a worthwhile trade-off, let's consider a few factors: Resale Value of Your Current Tacoma (or FJ Cruiser or 4Runner) Seats: • Used car parts, including seats, can have some value on the secondary market. The actual value depends on several factors: Condition, Mileage, Trim Level, Demand, Completeness. • You could check online marketplaces (like eBay, Craigslist, or Tacoma-specific forums) to see what similar used seats are selling for to get an idea of their potential value, if any. • What about purchasing other used Tacoma seats as a sacrifice instead? This could be done but we would need a conversation about what you will need to keep from your original seat. Its not just an easy 1:1 swap. Benefits of Upgrading your seats with scheel-mann and Tolerance Stack: • Significantly Improved Comfort: If your current seats are causing discomfort, especially on longer drives, high-quality scheel-mann seats are designed with ergonomics and orthopedics in mind. • Enhanced Support and Posture: scheel-mann seats offer far better lumbar support, bolstering, and adjustability, which can lead to a more comfortable, and less fatiguing, driving experience especially when you have a bad back. In fact nearly 90% of our current sales are to back sufferers. • Customization: Upgrading allows you to choose seats with features that better suit your needs, such as storage, heating, cooling, or specific material/color preferences. • Maintaining Vehicle Functionality: As Tolerance Stack emphasizes, the system is designed to integrate with your Tacoma's existing safety systems (SRS) and occupancy computer without triggering warning lights. This is a major advantage over ALL generic, lesser quality, aftermarket seat installations. • Long-Term Investment in Driving Enjoyment: If you plan to keep your Tacoma for a while, the increased comfort and support of aftermarket seats can significantly enhance your overall ownership experience and will only bolster resale value. Is the "Sacrifice" Worth It? The decision ultimately comes down to your personal priorities and the potential value you place on each option: • If your primary concern is comfort and you find your current seats significantly lacking: The potential improvement in your daily driving experience and long-term comfort might outweigh the potential resale value of the original seats. • If the resale value of your seats is substantial and you're only mildly uncomfortable: This is where the decision could be difficult. Maybe your truck is brand new or very low mileage and the thought of taking apart a new seat seems difficult to you. But what seems like "mildly uncomfortable" now will only progress. There is no getting away from aging. • Consider the hassle of selling used seats: Even if they have decent value, selling them involves time, effort in listing them, and potentially dealing with shipping or local meetups. Factor this into your calculation of their "worth." Ultimately, if your current seats are a major source of discomfort and you value a significantly improved driving experience while maintaining your vehicle's safety systems, then utilizing the Tolerance Stack system and "sacrificing" your old seat components for a high-quality orthopedic scheel-mann Vario seat could be a worthwhile investment. Once the decision is made to move forward with upgrading, you will be removing your old seats and dissecting them in order to complete the full functionality of the Tolerance Stack mounting system. These aren't just some cheap pieces of metal slapped together to mount aftermarket seats while completely ignoring the safety aspects of the truck it's going into. The Tolerance Stack mounting solution is a COMPLETE upgrade. Seen in the image below are the components needed from your old Toyota seat, the passenger seat anyway. You will be removing and reusing: • Inboard and outboard seat rails • All four load-cells (array) • All load-cell connectors and complete harness • Slide handle • All four occupancy sensors • Seat heater computer (little black box) • Seat-belt bracket and buckle assembly • Seat-belt harness and connector Comfort Requires Sacrificing Your Uncomfortable Toyota Seat

We are specifically looking at the passenger side right now because there is more into the wiring bundles than the driver side. Under the factory heated, but non-powered, passenger seat you have the “always yellow” SRS/airbag connector. ANYTIME you are even considering removing this plug you MUST disconnect the battery ground and wait for 90 seconds per the Toyota factory FSM. This means even if you are removing the seat just to give the carpet a good cleaning, the battery gets disconnected. To the right is the Load-Cell Array/Seat-belt connector. This is the connector that connects all four load-cells only found on the passenger side with the seat-belt connection info.

Next over is the occupancy sensor computer which basically takes strain calculations from the load-cell array and sends that info to the truck computer thru the seat-belt/occupancy sensor harness.

To the right of that is the Seat Heater Computer. Only OEM supplied factory heated seats will have this little black box. The next up is the heated seat connector. To the far left is the Mid-Harness/seat-belt connector. This is simply a connection point for mating two harnesses. Special thanks to David Schmenk and TruckHouse to making an incredible work of art.
