TL/DR; if you are currently satisfied with your seat height in your vehicle, rest assured that you will maintain that same level of comfort with the seat height after upgrading to scheel-mann seats utilizing the Tolerance STACK seat mounts.
Integrating additional storage capabilities
One of the remarkable features of the scheel-mann Vario aftermarket seats is their innovative design that includes a lower seat fore/aft mechanism. This feature not only enhances comfort by adding thigh support but also makes the area beneath the seat easily accessible for storage and organization. Here at Tolerance STACK, we recognized this opportunity and took it a step further by integrating additional storage capabilities into our seat mount design specifically for the 2nd/3rd Generation Tacoma and FJ Cruiser models. This thoughtful design allows users to maximize the utility of their vehicle's interior space.

This particular storage box is designed for the passenger side, but we have also developed a corresponding unit for the driver’s side, ensuring that both front seat occupants can benefit from this clever storage solution. As illustrated in the accompanying image, the storage box is strategically engineered to optimize the space between the relocated load cells, fitting snugly onto the crossbars while remaining just below the actual seat mount.
This positioning not only maximizes storage but also keeps valuable items out of sight, deterring potential theft and preventing unauthorized access.

Power capabilities into the storage box
In addition to the ample storage space, all storage boxes will come equipped with a pre-cut USB/Cigarette lighter feature. This thoughtful addition is perfect for those who wish to integrate power capabilities into the storage box, allowing for the convenient charging of devices such as iPads or cell phones during travel. Additionally, a pass-thru plug is included for users who prefer to simply run a USB cable through the box without needing to connect any power source inside.

When we embarked on the development of the seat pan for the 2nd/3rd Generation Tacomas and FJ Cruisers, our considerations went beyond just the integration of the airbag SRS system and load-cell occupancy system. We were also faced with the challenge of accommodating an aftermarket seat that was designed to sit parallel to the ground using the provided seat rails. Our primary focus was on the average Tacoma user and their unique needs, and through our research, we discovered that many users opted to utilize seat lifters, particularly at the front edge of the seat.
This adjustment created a more pronounced rake angle, which significantly enhanced support under the thighs of the occupant, thereby increasing comfort during longer journeys.
Better back/better seat angle
At Tolerance STACK, we had to navigate the complexities of the overall angle of the seat mount in conjunction with the front seat rake. Fortunately, we were also working with a well-designed aftermarket seat that allows the seat bottom to extend outward, which is particularly beneficial for taller individuals seeking additional thigh support. This design consideration greatly contributes to a more comfortable driving experience for all users.
We believe that we have successfully achieved an optimal seating position that not only lowers the seat to the greatest extent possible but also maintains the actual seating height comparable to that of the Tacoma’s factory leather seats whereas on the FJ Cruiser we sit just a touch under the half-way point of the seat lift. In doing so, we have improved the front edge rake, which enhances support and adjustability of the seat without necessitating the use of secondary seat lifters.
This thoughtful engineering ensures that drivers and passengers alike can enjoy a more comfortable and supportive seating arrangement, perfect for both daily commutes and longer road trips.
