Integrating additional storage capabilities

One of the remarkable features of the scheel-mann Vario aftermarket seats is their innovative design that includes a lower seat fore/aft mechanism. This feature not only enhances comfort by adding thigh support but also makes the area beneath the seat easily accessible for storage and organization. Here at Tolerance STACK, we recognized this opportunity and took it a step further by integrating additional storage capabilities into our seat mount design specifically for the 2nd/3rd Generation Tacoma and FJ Cruiser models. Full production of the 2nd/3rd Gen Tacoma seat bracket kits completed months ago with the front brackets being fully finished before powder coating.

What you see in this image are the laser cut steel front brackets before they are tig-welded and then powder coated. These front brackets should outlast the truck itself because they are so beefy.

The design of these specific brackets were crucial for not only keeping the seats as low as possible but to also move the Tacoma's load-cell from the outside of the frame rail to the inside allowing us to design a seat mounting plate that doesn't raise the scheel-mann seats any higher than the stock seat.

When we were first approached by scheel-mann to find a solution for the FJ Cruiser/Tacoma's ability to use an aftermarket seat platform he already knew it would be a complex issue to tackle. Sure there was the electrical engineering to overcome to move the load cells and reduce the overall height and have the SRS system be happy but the mechanical engineering involved was going to take the better part of a year of testing to find the perfect solution allowing for a true "bolt-on" experience.

The problem solving meant a mix of materials and coatings and working with tolerances we didn't expect to find needed in a seat adapter.

Here you can see the Tolerance STACK rear mounting blocks machined out of aluminum, fiber laser engraved and then using an anodize plating process instead of powder coating because of the consistency of the coating for anodize.

Tolerance STACK is committed to solving problems and NOT creating new ones. Other universal solutions treat seat belt mounting as an after thought.

Tolerance STACK instead looks for solutions that keep what the OEM engineering intended and improve on it, not make it worse. Here you can see that we kept all of the Toyota Tacoma seat belt mounting the same in order to not reduce its safety by engineering a sub-par attachment point.
